Duties performed as the Deputy CISO, and Security Architect for Highground Cyber primarily center around; Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Program Management and Implementation, Fractional CISO engagements, Red Teaming (non-invasive), Purple Teaming, and Security Architecture in support of digital transformation and cloud migration initiatives.

During my tenure with the MN Army National Guard, my responsibilities included Senior Incident Response Handler, Enclave Security, Operational Security, Service Delivery of Enterprise Functions, GRC, IT Compliance Audits, and numerous leadership roles from 2006-2021.

Recruitment into a new role within the company included establishing a new line of business with a focus on Cybersecurity and IT Compliance advisory services, productizing those services, delivering the services to customers, and performing ongoing security and compliance operations. Internal responsibilities include the duties of a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), conducting internal IT security operations, and crafting a Strategic Cybersecurity strategy.

Supervised and managed a team of Engineers and Solutions Architects responsible for the research, design, engineering, integration, and Tier IV support for the USDA-APHIS Enterprise Infrastructure. Focus areas included GRC, configuration management, strategic planning, platforms, storage, backups, databases, and user endpoint engineering.

Supervised and managed the Core Systems Service Line, constituting GRC, storage, computer, end-user computing, application management, and systems security management. Responsibilities include operational service support, technical control, strategic planning, and advisory support for Core Systems services.

Initially recruited into role ensuring security for the Minnesota Army National Guard (MNARNG) Enterprise serving 85 locations throughout Minnesota. Worked collaboratively to ensure compliance as outlined by the State of Minnesota, Washington DC National Guard Bureau, Department of the Army, and Department of Defense directives.

Supervised and managed the Client Technologies Division, tasked with IT operational planning, oversight, advisory support, and technical control for more than fifteen core services within the region. Developed and executed a strategic plan which standardized, automated, streamlined, and secured operations for more than 11,000 endpoints.

Reported directly to the Region 6 Chief Technology Officer on several operational, tactical and strategic initiatives as they relate to multiple divisions within the Region 6 Core Service Line. Assignments include strategic planning, advisory briefings, implementation activities, and operational support for multiple divisions.
