This position had matrixed oversight for more than twenty co-workers and provided strategic planning, internal consulting, and analytical support for the System. This role oversaw the analysis and development of ad hoc strategic initiatives and business plans. Selected roles included:

AMC and Community Hospital Strategic Planning: Lead the development of the first integrated strategic plan between UNC Health and UNC Rex.

Radiology JV Creation: Key member of a team that negotiated with an independent radiology group to create a joint venture of their outpatient radiology centers with UNC Rex’s centers.

CAR-T Lab Expansion: Lead a team of strategy and finance consultants in the development of a business case for the UNC Health to invest in a University lab dedicated to the research and production of early-stage CAR-T cell therapies.

Service Line Planning: Lead the development of multi-year plans for Oncology and Neurosciences for UNC Health and UNC Rex.

Magnus Health Start-Up

Magnus Health is the leading provider of web-based / software as a service (SaaS) student medical records designed specifically for use in schools. Magnus has more than 1,000 programs nationwide - ranging from small, private K-12 schools to large, public universities.

Raised $250K in seed funding, developed the initial product, and earned revenues within sixteen months of official company launch. Subsequently helped raise $500K in angel funding.

CFO during a time the company grew from zero to $3M in contracted annual recurring revenue (CARR). Handled all financial and accounting responsibilities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.

UNC Rex Corporate Strategy & Development

This position facilitated monthly updates to Executives and regular updates to the Strategic Planning & Finance subcommittee of the Board. Regularly oversaw the development of business plans to increase physician capacity, purchase new technology, add new clinical services, and expand clinical locations. This position had oversight for four analysts. Created strategic presentations for myself and other Executives to deliver to the Board. Selected activities:

Physician Practice Merger: Financial analysis, modeling, and due diligence for the merger of the two largest general surgery practices in Raleigh and subsequent acquisition by UNC Rex. Transaction valued at $15M over five years.

Strategic Planning: Lead the multi-year strategic planning process at UNC Rex. Analyzed the internal and external performance of key service lines, conducted interviews, developed strategic initiatives, and reported on performance.
