JDA addresses technical and market failures in the wheat value chain on RADP-North, a five-year, $78 million agricultural development project. I manage a team of approximately 90 international and local professional staff in delivering on-farm productivity and private sector interventions in four northern provinces, as well as providing nutrition education to 10,000 rural women.

Chief of Party to 30 professional staff and three subcontractors in a seven-year, £43 million market systems (M4P) DfID project in micro finance, access to finance, and three agricultural sectors.
Successfully led staff, subcontractors and short-term consultants through an eight month inception phase utilizing a market systems approach to gain donor and government approval for the £43 million contract. The project targets 45,000 jobs, 65,000 households with increasing

Led value chain efforts in key Southern African agricultural commodities of maize, soy and groundnuts, as well as in cotton, textile and apparel. Also focused on the financing value chain from pre-production farm credit to post-harvest inventory financing, with the ultimate objective of developing functioning country-level commodity exchanges.

Led strategy, business development and operations in developing the new practice area of health for the company in health care supply chains – moving goods “the last mile” – and incentive schemes to provide health services and commodities to the rural poor.

Managed a staff of 85 in a nationwide project with $25 million in annual funding.
The Tanzania National Voucher Scheme was the largest malaria control program in sub-Saharan Africa, funded by the Global Fund and USAID (PMI). We established a nationwide Public-Private Partnership to distribute long-lasting nets (LLINs) through 4,500 clinics and 7,000 retailers. My role entailed donor relations, strategy and planning, staffing and HR development, finance, IT and monitoring and evaluation.

Raised second-round financing from USAID to continue existing agribusiness work; then developed a three-country, three-donor, $6 million regional cashew program.
Revamped the annual planning process to improve budgeting and setting of performance objectives. Pushed accountability to each member of the professional team.
